Third Way is a public policy and advocacy organization with a mission to create and promote transformational centrist ideas. We aim to influence major debates in Washington, DC by running advocacy campaigns that combine deeply researched policy with incisive political analysis. We design our work to be persuasive to elected officials, candidates, the media, and other influencers. As a result, Third Way has been lauded as “the best source of new ideas in public policy” (Washington Post), “the future of think tanks” (Reuters), and the "North American Think Tank of the Year” (Prospect magazine).
In addition to economic growth and opportunity, progress on social issues, and a smart national security strategy, a major focal point in Third Way’s agenda is achieving deep decarbonization to avoid the most damaging impacts of climate change. If we want to rapidly cut emissions by at least 80%, the U.S. needs an evidence-based policy approach that 1) recognizes the value of both innovation and deployment of clean energy, and 2) acknowledges the need for a variety of technology solutions like nuclear and carbon capture in addition to renewables, efficiency, and energy storage.
